Team Nancy O'dowd plan
Dear Cherry Hill voter,
You will have the opportunity to vote for a new Mayor of Cherry Hill when you receive your vote by mail ballot or at the polls on Nov. 5th.
My husband, Dr. Thomas O’Dowd, and I have lived in the Barclay neighborhood of Cherry Hill for over 30 years where we raised three children who all graduated from West. I am a certified advanced practice nurse and small business owner. I previously served as an elected Cherry Hill School Board member.
Our campaign is focused on the needs of the residents, neighborhoods, and schools of Cherry Hill. My team running for Town Council with me in Column 2 are Dr. Stephen Cohen, Steven Lever, and Mary Ellen Litton.
• We will focus on things affecting your quality of life– repairing sidewalks, potholes, addressing crime and vandalism, speeding in our neighborhoods, and other day-to-day resident concerns. We will work with residents, neighborhood groups, civic associations, and condo associations to make improvements and increase falling property values, and to address recurrent problems such as foreclosed properties and frequent flooding.
• WE WILL NOT ALLOW THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE CURRENT MASTER PLAN RECOMMENDATIONS TO MAKE 16 NEIGHBORHOODS “AREAS IN NEED OF REHABILITATION” SLATED FOR HIGH DENSITY HOUSING, IN SINGLE-FAMILY NEIGHBORHOODS. We will stop any effort to turn these neighborhoods over to big developers seeking to cash in on multi-unit apartment development. This is a major contrast between my team and the alternative.
• We will reach out to our existing apartment complexes to form a residents’ advisory board to the mayor to make sure the issues found within our apartment complexes are dealt with promptly and to ensure the safety and comfort of the residents and the entire community.
• We will enable our outstanding Cherry Hill Police to enforce speed limits on neighborhood streets, fix and add speed detection signs, and patrol neighborhoods after dark for car break-in’s and other crime. We will offer our police resources and expertise to the School Districensure the safety of our children.
• We will prioritize affordability for residents by lowering property taxes. We will pay for property tax relief for residents by making sure large commercial properties and apartment complexes are properly assessed and paying their fair share of taxes. There will be no more PILOT (payment in lieu of taxes) deals with developers that deprive our schools of millions in tax dollars.
• Finally, we will bring back Fireworks and the iconic Cherry Blossom Parade to town by 2021.
I invite you to join our campaign—email me at VoteNancyO@gmail.com to get involved for a Better Cherry Hill. Thank you for your support!
All the best,
Nancy Feller O’Dowd

our solutions
- We will establish enhanced school security in January of 2020. Some of my plans cost nothing to you the tax payer and they will be implemented immediately.
- We will expose the millions of dollars in extra revenue the township takes in but never gives back. We will find out where it’s going and lower the tax rate accordingly.
- We will publicly release and review all contracts and agreements Cherry Hill has with the Norcross family related entities doing business in Cherry Hill Township.
- We will advocate for Cherry Hill to the state and county to repair and redesigning traffic intersections for better traffic flow and better pedestrian safety. We will review costs and traffic impact associated with new roads and lights being installed to benefit new businesses and facilities such as the new Cooper building on Route 70.
- We will enable our outstanding Cherry Hill Police to enforce speed limits on neighborhood streets, fix and add speed detection signs, and patrol neighborhoods after dark for car break-in’s and other crime. We will offer our police resources and expertise to the School Districensure the safety of our children.
- We will require Cherry Township to repair curb to sidewalk damage from trees planted decades ago. Residents should not be held responsible for poor decisions made by the township or developers.
- We will prioritize affordability for residents by lowering property taxes. We will pay for property tax relief for residents by making sure large commercial properties and apartment complexes are properly assessed and paying their fair share of taxes. There will be no more PILOT (payment in lieu of taxes) deals with developers that deprive our schools of millions in tax dollars.
- We will assist Cherry Township Police to invest in new technology such as to detect and prevent auto burglary and vandalism. I will ensure that law enforcement is allowed to work with federal agencies to secure our community.
- Most importantly...We must address the tax death of the Cherry Hill public schools and community. Steadily rising taxes have become unsustainable for our current residents and destroy our ability to attract working families and maintain our property values and schools.
- We will put a stop to new high density building. Cherry Hill has limited open space left. We need to maintain and expand greenspace.
- We will work to restore community activities that bring us together, like fireworks, the Cherry Blossom Festival and parades.
